Drawing Algorithms
← Go back

An algorithm, drawn by a 50-year-old female financial officer in Switzerland.

So: How does an algorithm work, how do you imagine it to work? Well, I find it very difficult with the drawing now. Ehm. [silence] It doesn't have to be pretty, right? No Well I draw a person who is on the internet and asks for example about travel destinations - X, Y, Z - and for me, so that what I mean with an algorithm, is something behind it and if I log in to the internet now, for example, I might get a Z1, Y1 and X1 played back. That means based on my search queries, the algorithm determines my interests and then specifically advertises for me. Okay Well, this is... Top, how did you learn about algorithms, where does your knowledge come from? Well, I can't answer that right now. I don't know, you read... Well, you can feel it, too. So the first time I really asked myself, okay, I was looking for something or I even paid for something with my credit card and then I got an inquiry, not a specific inquiry to me, but "how did you like it there?" And then I thought: yes, okay. I think it's very special and then I asked on the internet. It probably triggered some other algorithm - I don't know. Yes And about that, so about personal interest and personal experiences you would say? yes And so in everyday life, so lately you've come across algorithms at some point, has the topic ever come up? Uh, yes, on the outskirts. Well, that doesn't concern me, my daughter is doing some kind of study in the marketing area, and the topic has already come up. Then of course we also have studies about algorithms but unfortunately I don't have the time to deal intensively with the studies but yes... So about this every now and then in everyday life such points of contact Exactly therefore now not really concretely that one deals with it but one reads just also over and over again about it, more and more I even have the impression reads where? I read a lot online So media, then? Yes, that's right. Great. Thanks a lot.
