Drawing Algorithms
← Go back

An algorithm, drawn by a 26-year-old male who works as a trustee in Switzerland.

Okay, well, then I would like you to draw on the other side how an algorithm works. [Prolonged Silence] Just what you think of when I say the word algorithm. Again, there's no right or wrong and this time I'll leave the recorder running and you can explain what you're drawing. [Prolonged silence] That's it. Okay, and what does the box in the middle mean? That would be a computer keyboard again and it's actually like an input that you do something with and then it sets something else in motion. Ah, so the arrows represent the movement? Which results from that. Okay and how did you learn about algorithms or where does your knowledge of the subject come from? I can't answer that exactly, I don't know anymore. Okay. I've heard that somewhere before, but I'm not sure I mean it right. And did you feel that you encounter algorithms in your everyday life? Well, you drew a keyboard, so is there a connection to computers? Just in general with the internet and networking, because I suppose that wherever we leave data behind, it is evaluated in the end and something else is set in motion. Be it advertising or whatever. Because our mobile phone or the things that the mobile phone shows, that is tailored to our needs. Okay. And by every input we make, it is stored or deposited somewhere and that actually gives an effect afterwards. Okay, so it's always something that sets something else in motion.
