Drawing Algorithms

An algorithm, drawn by a 46-year-old male sociology professor in the US.

Okay. On the bottom half of this sheet, if you could draw a picture of how an algorithm works. Okay. And I'll keep this on if you want to narrate the drawing. Well, you have a goal or an end point. And then you have some well-defined series of steps that you can automate in order to get to that goal or end point, or at least know whether you succeeded or failed in getting there. And what's up top? Whatever the initial step is in order to start you off on the process of reaching the goal that you want. Okay. And where have you heard about algorithms? I suppose I've studied them a little bit in college. What was your field? In social sciences and also in philosophy and logic. Okay. Thank you.
