Drawing Algorithms

An algorithm, drawn by a 43-year-old female administrator for higher education in the US.

So that, in case you want to tell me about your drawing. What are you thinking about? [sighs]I am trying to figure out what...Isn't an algorithm something that predicts certain sequence of...certain sequence of inputs predicts certain outcomes? [sighs] If you want your drawing to have words that's fine. Yeah no, I am just trying to think about how I will draw this. [laughs quietly] Again, it's not an art study so... No, no, no, I know but... I am assuming this is the various types of input that can be had. The algorithm takes place in the middle which I imagine is a code that is somehow...I can't draw that so that's just like this. And this is able to predict something. Why do you say you can't draw that? [laughs then sighs] Or what did you mean by that, I guess? I guess the logic behind the algorithm is something that I couldn't draw. That translates the input into something of an output. Ok. That's fine. Is that good? Yeah, I think we're good. Okay, where have you heard of the term algorithm before? Yes. Where? Oh, where. What context? Do you remember? Or did you hear about it? I guess any kind of big data modelling scenario, right? Where an algorithm figures out that if I eat at a certain restaurant, certain times of, certain number of times a month I get an email from those restaurants inviting me to come back with a coupon. Okay but is this something you have experienced or you have heard of in the news or you talk to with colleagues about? I was just wondering what context. Oh, in what context I heard about it initially? Yeah. If you can recall. Or where you might hear about it nowadays or... I don't know. Okay, I mean if you can't remember that's fine.
